Early Life & Education

“I was born on June 22, 1974, in Chennai, into a humble yet artistic family. My father, S. A. Chandrasekhar, was a filmmaker, and my mother, Shoba Chandrasekhar, a playback singer. From a young age, I was surrounded by cinema, but I was also shaped by silence  the sudden loss of my sister when I was just a child changed me forever. It taught me how precious people are.”

“I studied at Balalok Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Virugambakkam, and later pursued Visual Communications at Loyola College, Chennai. But more than books, life taught me empathy. Watching my parents work hard, staying grounded despite the fame those were my real lessons. Acting came naturally, but understanding people, feeling their pain, and standing up for what’s right  that came with life.”

“I didn’t choose cinema it chose me. My journey began as a child artist in my father’s films. But it was Naalaiya Theerpu in 1992 that marked my debut as a hero. The path wasn’t easy. There were hits and flops. But I never gave up  because I wasn’t chasing stardom. I was chasing connection.”
